A significant protest rally, spearheaded by AIMIM  and former Member of Parliament Imtiaz Jaleel, occurred in Mumbai on September 23-24, 2024. The event, named the "Tiranga Samvidhan Rally," was organized in reaction to purported hate speeches made by BJP MLA Nitesh Rane and preacher Ramgiri Maharaj, drawing participation from over 12,000 individuals across the Marathwada region. The demonstrators were halted at the Mulund Check Naka, as the Mumbai police had denied them entry into the city. In an effort to manage the crowd and avert any possible disturbances, the police employed a lathi charge and filed FIRs against several participants for obstructing highways.


In spite of these clashes, Jaleel underscored that the rally's purpose was to peacefully advocate for action against hate speech and to remind the state government of its constitutional responsibilities. Activists from diverse communities, including Dalit and Maratha groups, participated in the protest, which featured a substantial convoy that led to traffic disruptions on major thoroughfares.
